The Yard in Winter.

This painting of our courtyard in Stamford, lit by low winter sunshine, was inspired by the work of the artist Patrick Caulfield. He also used household paints on large canvases for his studies of interiors and architecture. Emulsion paint has the advantage of being comparatively cheap, is solvent in water and covers the canvas in a couple of coats without leaving brush marks.
