Shadows on Stone.
Emulsion on canvas 30x40ins.
This was one of the first paintings I did after we had first moved back to Uppingham in 2020. I wanted to emphasise the nature and colour of the characteristic rusty brown Jurassic limestone which glows in bright sunshine. It was exhibited in 2021 in my daughter’s newly opened gallery and framing shop. After selling it, I continued to paint Rutland scenes for the gallery until it closed in the autumn of 2023.
