This large painting was completed in the early months of settling into our new home in Uppingham. My daughter was about to open a framing shop and gallery and I wanted to paint pictures of local views that she could sell. This characterful florist on the High Street was, I thought a good subject. However, we were immediately affected by the lockdowns of 2021 and 2022, which deprived us all of businesses like this and meant that the colourful flowers were no longer on display. However, as you can see, there was still a delivery service available.
