This highly stylised painting of Albert Bridge in Stamford was painted before my husband’s poetry collection, ‘Bridging the Gap’ was published in 2017. We thought, however, that it would be an appropriate design for the cover of the new book. The ornate Victorian Bridge had always been one of my favourite architectural features in Stamford, but difficult to paint realistically as its modern surroundings rather let it down. By stylising the setting and using contemporary colours it was a less challenging subject.
